I sent a session booking to a tutor. Why is it not under my upcoming sessions?
A session is not confirmed until the tutor accepts or rejects the booking request. Each tutor has a different response time. Please look at a tutor’s profile to see how long it might take to answer a request. We recommend sending a booking request at least 24 hours in advance.
Will I be notified when a tutor accepts or rejects my booking request?
Yes. An email will be sent out to you.
Can a tutor send a student a booking request?
Yes. Once you have had an initial session with a tutor, they can also send you requests. These requests are called “Session Invites.” You will be notified via email every time there is an invite.
How do I accept or reject a session invite?
Go to the “Session Invites” section and it will show all pending invites that tutors have sent to you. You will need to either accept or reject them. Accepted invites go to your upcoming sessions.
What is the difference between session invites and requested sessions?
Session invites are booking requests made by tutors for a student to accept or reject while requested sessions are bookings sent by students for tutors to accept or reject.
How are online sessions conducted?
Session will be conducted using Google Meet. Your email will be used by the tutor to send you a link. The Google Meet Link will also be available under upcoming sessions . Each session has a unique link.
What if a session goes longer than the original duration or if I want to extend my session duration?
Tutors can add overtime to the sessions when they are marking them complete. Overtime will also update your dues. Students are notified via email when a session is marked as complete.
What if a tutor added overtime for a session and it did not happen?
Please email support and let us know about the issue. Please make sure to include your name, your tutor’s name, and all the session information. Takavi Tutors will investigate and respond as soon as possible with a resolution.
What happens if a session invite goes unanswered?
Session invites disappear from your account when they are unanswered.
Can sessions be conducted without booking on the platform?
No. All users must follow Takavi Tutors Policies and any sessions conducted without our platform will result in immediate account suspension of both Tutor and the respective student.
Do parents have to monitor their kids when a student is having a session?
Yes. Parents should monitor a session that a minor is having with a tutor. This is for both in-person and online sessions.
Can a student request a session outside of a tutor’s availability?
No. Students can only request a session based on a tutor’s availability listed on their profile.
Why do I get an alert when I am trying to accept a session invite?
This usually happens when sessions overlap. Two consecutive sessions need a 15 minute interval in-between them.
How do I rebook a session with a tutor?
There are multiple ways to do this. You can first click on the tutor’s name under a completed session to go to their profile and directly request another session. Another way is to add a tutor as a “Favorite Tutor” by clicking the heart button on their profile. Once a student adds a tutor as their favorite tutor, this saves that tutor’s profile permanently for quick access and easy bookings.
My tutor has not sent me a Google Meet link for our upcoming online session. What should I do?
Message the tutor on the chat page and ask them to upload a link. If it is not uploaded within 3 hours of the session please notify us by emailing support. Please make sure to include your name, session date, etc. with your message.
There is only a zip code for an upcoming in-person session. Do I need to let the tutor know where to meet for the session?
Yes. Please make sure to send a message via the chat page to the tutor to let them know where you would like the session to take place. We recommend a public place for the first session, but that is up to the parent and tutor. Many students meet tutors in their homes, coffee shops, public libraries, etc. A minor should always be supervised by a parent for sessions.
